New Best 2V NA GT 12.60 @ 107.09
This past weekend I installed a UPR tubular K-member and MAC longtubes on the car. The K-member was good for a 68lb reduction in weight plus much easier access to everything around the motor. The headers added some weight back since they were 8.5lbs heaver than the stock manifolds but well worth it. Last night I headed out the to the track to test out the new set up. Unfortunately my clutch started to give out in first and second gear so the car nosed over pretty bad, apparently it didn't care for the added torque the longtubes gave me.
Only made three passes (two more than I should have) and called it a night before I broke anything. I did however manage a 12.60 @ 107.09 on my second pass with a 1.63 60 foot. Not to bad for the clutch slipping halfway through 1st and most of the way through 2nd. The clutch is a SPEC stage 3 with about 12K miles, 80 passes on it and it's done for. In a few weeks I'll replace the disk with a centerforce and an aluminum flywheel to get better numbers. I expect it to go in the 12.50's with 1.59 60 foots.
The longtubes were a world of difference, pulls much harder through the power band, better low end and mid range torque. Overall the car picked up 1.5 MPH (about .5 from the k-member weight reduction and 1 MPH from the headers) and even lowered my 60 foots but .03-.04 even with it slipping.
