Exclamation Nuclear nightmares and Saddam Huessin

Iraq's Saddam Hussein is desperate to aquire some form of nuclear weapon, perhaps a 'dirty' nuclear bomb. He has the money and the will to do this. He is also metally unstable and very dangerous. He must be stopped - for all of the reasons you recounted in your 'What if...' scenario. That some people (in the U.S. and elsewhere) still try to find reasons to avoid stopping him is simply incomprehensible.

I agree that when stable governments controlled by sane - if otherwise misguided - people possess nuclear technology the concept of Mutually Assured Destruction applies and works, as it has for 65 + years. The United States has always held a 'No-First-Nuclear-Strike' position. Even Pakistan and India backed off after rattling the nuclear sabre at each other earlier this year. Saddam Huessin is another story and again, he must be stopped.

Anyway, thanks Nathan, for the reminder of what actual nuclear explosions can do.
