The older, 3 bolt pulley mount balancers had the TDC mark in a different location than the four bolt pulley mount balancers. The 3 bolt balancers had the timing pointer on the drivers side of the engine, and the four bolt balancers have the pointer on the passenger side, so the mark on the balancer had to be changed accordingly.

Interesting......the timing pointer on my 351 is on the passenger side. It had 4 bolts and the large one in the center.
