the easiest way to add power without changing octane requirements would probaably be to cut parasitic horsepower loses.

Ford however evidently has some very conservative ignition settings so I suppose a slight increase in dynamic compression is not an issue.


The drivetrain is pretty much optimized from the factory, the diff is lubed for life with a synthetic oil (02 anyways), and they tranny only needs to be checked for proper level (and I beleive it has a synthetic in it also). this leaves engine oil as far as lubricants go (I think the 5w20 is a non synthetic oil still).

From there you 've got the under pulley thing and the last place you might try is the exhaust system. Any time the engine has to work against back pressure, its gonna burn up HP trying to push it out of the exh. port.
