Sounds like you've never been to Cordova.
It's an IHRA track, btw. I didn't have a cage either, just a helmet and the factory seat belt, lol... they're some pretty easy going guys there. Unless you have a 'vert or T-tops, you can get by w/out a helmet.
MCR's (Havana, IL) idea of teching your car involves you filling out a tech card and handing it in at the concession stand!
Not a single tech official looked at my car the one time I went there. Another thing worth mentioning about that 'hole' of an 1/8mi. track is that, when you pull into the burnout box, you pull into a sort of dip in the cocrete. Also, half of the track is concrete and the other asphalt... real high tech track there.
Oh, and my mph was off by +10mph on every run, lol.
You oughta go there sometime.
