Well here's what happened. He offered me a much lower price, or we could just unwind the deal and I'd get my car back. The problem with that is that the high school kid that has my stang now has no idea how to drive it. He's been grinding gears and riding the clutch all over town for about two weeks now. I don't even want the car back, and I really like this truck. He had nothing else on his lot that would suit our needs.
So I took the lower price. According to kelley blue book
www.kbb.com, it's still worth a little over 3k with a salvage title, and that's what I told him I'd pay for it. He then offered me what he paid for it and we agreed. It's still a little more than I wanted to pay, but in the long run, it's probably cheaper this way because of court fees and hassles.
As far as the truck damage, I know where it was hit. The front passenger side corner was hit. If I take off the grill and headlights, I can tell where it was mended. The frame seems to be fine. I took it to a collision specialist and asked him the integrity of this truck before I decided to keep it. It costed me some cash, and a boring day with no ride, but it was well worth it.
Another wierd thing is that both carfax and autocheck don't list this truck as being a salvage vehicle???
Thanks again to all,
Dave
