They're recertified every two years to keep you from winding up like Dale Earnhardt. A small nick/tear in the webbing greatly reduces their strength and reliability. Therefore you have them recertified every two years to make sure there's not a nick/tear in the webbing. I pull mine out every two years and usually sell them to local dirt trackers; apparently they don't have the two-year requirement like NHRA/IHRA.
