How is it set to 14? T/a or chip? I have a feeling you are acutally running 10 deg if you're using a t/a and 89. The stock ECU will override the t/a if there's any knock or ping with a manual t/a.
If you've got a chip and no problems, consider yourself smiled upon. That's the first one I've heard of running like that.
