IMHO, keep it. without the EGR you run a greater risk of the engine overheating. However, with the EGR system, the intake heats up a little more. (the exhaust gas travels through the intake from the heads, then back into the cylinders). The system is only active under low/no load. AKA, as soon as you go WOT, it closes the valve. Also, if you ditch the spacer, you'd need new studs in the upper plenum. My personal opinion is that it's not worth the trouble/risk/constantly glowing check engine light.
