To use the 4 cyl. tranny, all you need to do is change the pilot bearing as the input shaft is a smaller diameter on the end where it goes into crankshaft. First gear is a different ratio in this than the 8 cyl which is why it's popular amoung people. In my own opinion, I would spend the money and upgrade to the tremec. The 4 cyl T-5's don't last very long behind the 8's because most people who put them in do so for the different gearing and it can't handle the 8 cyl power and constant abuse we put them through. just my 2 cents though.
