Default Test drove a Mach I

I was toying with the idea of getting a new Mach I and getting crazy with mods on my '00 GT since the warranty is up on it now. At the dealership in town they had a $7500 markup on the Mach I that pushed the price to $37K. They quickly told me when I started talking to them that they would drop the entire markup if I wanted to buy that day.
Now for the good stuff. The interior is sweet and the seats are well bolstered. When you are in the drivers seat the hood scoop sticking up is very noticeable and looks mean. The car felt like it had better midrange power than the '99 and '01 Cobras I checked out. To be honest, it didn't feel any quicker than my bolt-on GT up to about 5K rpm or so, especially considering it's got 3.55s stock, but keep revving after that and it feels very strong. I didn't take it up to redline since it was a new car, but I took it a little over 6. It definitely felt like a solid 13-flat or low-13 1/4 miler on street tires.
I'd say if they'll sell you one for $29K without any markup it's a heck of a car.
