You need a "puller" to pull the harmonic balancer off. Sears sells a suitable one with bolts you need to make easy work of removing it. Mount puller in front of crankshaft with central screw over crank center. Use bolts to fasten wings of puller to harmonic (you'll find bolt holes in the harmonic). Get everything nice and straight then tighten the center screw and as you do, the harmonic will pull off the crankshaft. If you don't want to spend the money for the puller tool, then rent one at a local "U" rents.
