Sure sounds like a shifter fork problem. I've replaced three of them this year and they all did pretty much the same thing. (three different vehicles mind you) On my truck the fork had worn so badly the fork slipped past the synchronizer ring and it jammed in second gear although the shifter went anywhere you wanted to put it.
