Definitely need to let that motor breathe a little easier before a cam would do you much good. Heads, intake, and exhaust would be a better place to go than a cam on an otherwise stock 302. In fact, many people run in the 12's with the stock cam, although once you get heads, intake, and exhaust, a larger cam will help you out even more.
