this may be A stupid guestion. but I am going to ask it any ways.

I know when you have A manual trans and going from A 6cyl to an 8 you need to change the trans and rear end. but what if you have an automatic trans and going from A 6cyl to an 8cyl.

and since I am posting I will ask another question instead of posting again. my brother in law has A 64 mustang with A blown 260. and he would like to know if he could just drop A 302 in untill he gets anough money to rebuild the 260.(he allready has the 302) I told him no cuz I think the 260 has A 5 bolt bellhousing and the 302 has A 6 bolt bellhouseing. but I am not sure.so can it be done.
