Default Oxadized/Flaking clearcoat

My 93s got bad clearcoat oxidation on the front fender corners and along the fender line above the rear wheels. The spot above the wheels is actually peeling, but the stuff on the front clip has just gone white.
Is there anything that I can do about this other than a new paint job? I was thinking about trying to wetsand the affected areas to remove the clearcoat and smooth the transition out between CC and paint, and then redoing the area in more clearcoat. Would this work? Any particular brand of CC to use? Or is this just a dumb idea?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
J
