I don't know what year they changed over to the on/off type units. Early 90's I guess, as my '94 van is like an idiot light with the needle type gauge.

All factory gauges are ball-parking it at best. I prefer the the accuracy of aftermarket gauges. I'm even putting oil psi and water temp gauges on my new notchback, it's it bone stock.
