Default damn it!! Broke the oil pump shaft.

Finaly took the car to the track. Never was able to get a clean run. But when I crossed the line I looked down at the speedo and seen the oil pressure drop down to "0"

I immediately turned the car off and towed it home.

I drained all of the oil and it looked clean with no shavings. I pulled the distributor out and then dropped a magnet down and pulled the oil pump shaft out. It broke at the very end of the shaft where it goes into the pump.

I am going to cut the filter open tonight and see if it did any damage.

Is it possible to remove the oilpan and change the pump with the engine in the car?

I dont think it would damage the main bearings cause they were still in a oilbath even though the pump went out.

I am going to cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Any advice?
