The PCV valve can be removed by hand, as the prior posts stated. Do it on a cold engine. As Chevyguy recommended, get the FORD PCV kit for about $10. or less at any Ford/Mercury dealer. Don't use aftermarket PCV's. The kit contains the valve, grommet and screen which should all be replaced about every 30,000 miles or so. I do mine at 20,000 but I'm a maintenance fanatic.

BTW:I've never, ever had a problem with the Ford PCV or grommet not fitting snugly. No leaks - ever from the PCV in 112,000 miles.
