Default Qs updating my electrical system and lights

Hi,

New to the forum tonight, seems like there are lots of members out there that know what they are doing. I have a 66 coupe that is fairly stock but a nice daily driver. I am currently trying to make it safer and more modernistic, a low key restomod. I have just installed a SSBC front disc conversion, which I highly recommend. I also have a Flaming River rack/pinion kit that I haven't had time to install yet, but everything looks good for that. If anyone wants to buy one, I have the name of a guy on eBay that will give you a good deal.

Anyway, my next goal is my electrical system. I have a stock alternator setup and wagner halogens. I am disappointed with both. I want to go to a single wire setup, but conversion kits are quite spendy. Apparently a GM alt works well, but I don't really know anything past that like which ones and how high of amperage. I also want to go to xenon lights or something really freakin bright, but I have also heard that the wiring can't handle it and "relays" are in order.

Can anyone speak from experience in this matter?
Thanks,

Aaron
