I just changed mine out recently...managed without the module tool.
I used a 7/32 deep socket to remove mine...Now the reason why this worked is that with the deep socket,it's slim enough to get at the bolts on the module.I loosened the distributor hold down bolt (first noting the position of the distributor) and carefully rotated the distributor enough to get proper clearance to access the bolts on the module.
I loosened the bolts and gently pulled the module down.Clean the back of the new module of any dirt or grease and all mating surfaces of any old electric grease.
Apply fresh electric grease to the back of the module and install.
After it is installed,rotate the dist. back to its approx original location and set the timing with a timing gun (spout out of course

)
Worked great for me and haven't had any problems......
