Well, according to the '79 issue of the Chiltons for the II, (I'm apparently a geek, I have the manuel for every stang from 64-93

)
The SDV should be on the vac line coming out of the distributor, before you get to the ported vacum switch.
Notes on reinstillation:
"Make sure the black end of the valve is connected to the line from the carb and the color coded end is connected to the line from the SDV to the distributor"
According to the diagram it should be a flat diaphram looking piece (probibly round) with the hose attached to each flat face.
