Im still running with stock ignition and coil, any suggestions on good upgrade. I had problems before with MSD on another vehicle but heard good things from others. Also wanted to ask do i have to change my clutch if i rebuild my tranny? its a fairly new king cobra was installed maybe 10k miles ago max.
I wouldnt call it bulletproof, but a stock 302 can handle a decent amount of power, and then there's "aftermarket" blocks you can get that are stouter and/or prepped and machined to be a bit tougher. Some examples would be the sportsman block, or something like a DSS level 10/20 block. You can also up the durability during the rebuild with things like main girdles, etc.

I've never used MSD, (I'm still stock too), but you rarely seem to hear bad things about them. Another alternative would be something like this which is basically and upgrade on the stock system.
And no, if the clutch and pp are in good shape I dont see why you'd have to replace them. It would be a good time to do the throwout and pilot bearing tho.
