Edelbrock makes a kit for the throttle and kickdown linkage on Ford small blocks because the original doesn't work with the new carb.
The kickdown linkage works with the throttle linkage to kick your automatic down to a lower gear for passing or quicker acceleration. You don't want to drive without it, the engine seems to have no power at all. Mine was missing the hookup on the tranny when I bought it, ran like a slug. Found one on one of my friends' parts cars and hooked it up, BIG difference.
