The pragmatic part of my brain (most of it, whats left at least) says "do whatever to make it fast", but this still seems ...
unnatural ...Like ford street rods running 350's, but worse....
I guess because the engine, to me, is the heart of the car. With a lot of the rods,they're already "frankencars' built out of lots of different things, so its not so bad. Swapping a Chebbie into a "true" ford seems to take the personality/heratige away from it and turn it into a "kit-car".
