You can hone it all you want. Thing is, did you goof up the runout on any cylinders.

Next is a dial indicator. You will have to check the bores. If your within spec, you didn't goof it up.

Then on to new rings. Sized and cut ( With a ring trimmer) to each cylinder.

If, If you scratched the bores up real bad your looking at a new hone at a machine shop.

Personally, Id take it to the machine shop and get them to put the magic to it. If it will take a hone, thats great. Even if its a bore job, its cheap insurance.

You may not make the time line for cruising ocean blvd, but id rather fix it once. The motor sat for two years and you want it fixed before two weeks? Man, thats sounds like American Chopper. Don't rush it.
