Default dieseling engine

speed demon 750, started up fine. decided to fine tune the idle circuits, carb now idles like crap. It seems that it only wants to idle with the circuits screwed all the way in. That wasnt the case when i first put it on. Fuel level is set in the middle of the sight bowls. Pressure is 5.5-6 pounds. And when i turn the motor off, it diesels, knocks and wants to keep running. I have to leave it in gear, turn off the car and then release the clutch to kill the motor now. I have been to bg's site and followed the directions several times for trying to get it back right. Should i just tune the carb for the highest possible vacuum at idle? Now i didnt touch the pump arm/accelerator pump, however there is no play at the bottom at WOT like the instructions says. I set the timing by ear when it was first running sweet, and havent touched it since. IN the beginning, i could just bump the starter and it would start, now i have to pedal it to get it to start. Thanks in advance.
