i would say you need more gear.the 3.55 don"t give you any help geting off the line and the victor jr keeps you from haveing bottom end torque.if your running on motor only i would go to at least a 4.10 if useing nos 3.73.is your carb a mech secondary or vacum.the 3.55 dose'nt keep your rpms up in the range the need to be with the cam you have and the cam stops working about 5800 to 6000 rpms.i wouldn't turn the motor over 5800.how are you leaveing stalling it up or flashing the converter.
