Do yourself a favor and buy/borrow/steal the correct spring compressor.
I just replaced the upper control arms and spring saddles on my 68 Cougar. The correct compressor makes all the difference.
A compressed coil can be a dangerous item. You can loose a finger, or worse if it comes loose.
Also, don't forget to remove the spring covers in the front fender wells. Six bolts and they are out of the way. Gives you much more room to work.
