As for how much to put in it, when I bought mine it said in its instructions how much oil I should put in it. I think when I re-installed it last year, I tried to get as much in it as possible, letting the fresh fluid settle in a ways, and then adding more.
As for the tricks for putting it in, make sure that bad boy is seated all the way back against the pump. I have used a half inch wrench, bolting it to the bell housing via a flywheel cover bolt. By doing this, the wrench sits against the T.C. and provides a little tension on it so it doesn’t slip forward as you put it up in the car. I have noticed is the higher I had the car in the air, the better maneuverability I had.
