Talking Electric Waterpump on the Street?

Hey, I was wondering if I'd have any problems in the future getting an electric waterpump and keeping the car on the street for a couple thousand miles a summer, but alot of race duty too. I'll have alot of moeny to spend on a new motor and would like to elimante all of the accessories except for the alt. I don't mind useing some bruit force parking the car! Will the waterpump be reliable, and not wear out real fast or anything? I dont know if these things are more race only (the ones i see in Jegs and Summit) or what. Will it cool the motor enough? They're atleast $200 for one, so I dont want to get one that wears out, and I dont want one of those motors that runs a small belt to the pump.. Looks kinda ghetto.
