Put the slicks on there and don't worry about it. I have an easy 100 passes on my car on MT drags. Every pass I dropped the clutch at 5400 or so and the axles and 190,000 mile tranny still work fine. The only problem I have had is the differential quit working on my last pass I made. I have just as much if not more power then you are supporting and have had good luck... I guess you could go out there and snap an axle on the first pass, or hell it might go 1000 passes with no problem. It's just the luck of the draw I guess. You have nothing to loose. So go for it!
