You could probably do it if it is carbed. The tach being way off is not caused by the wiring, it's caused by the tach circuitry, if you switch it to one from a v8 you will be fine. You better know how to swap out basically all of the drivetrain before you try it because if you don't then you will have a no-go car. If you don't know much about how to do this then don't even try it! You'll be sorry. You will also need some wiring diagrams so that you know how to wire it up if you do this, and label everything when you disconnect it, it will be a nightmare if you don't. You might also want to swap out the springs, shocks and struts when you do it. As you can see, it is a really big job and you need to know your stuff if you do it. Good luck with your decision!
