Mine was a Mallory 110 GPH and I used a Mallory fuel filter right next to it. That's one of those big ones that look like a small oil filter with the replaceable element. Had a small ectrical problem with the wires that mated internally to the brushes. Like to drove me crazy (on again, off again). I replaced the pump with the red Holley while I repaired the Mallory. Now I just keep the Mallory as a back up unit. Maybe 6" higher than the gas tank outlet and right above. Some think that's a fire hazard right there in the trunk and right behind the back seat. May be safer to have it down beneath and outside the car where if it leaked it would just drip on the ground.
