Not insulting your intelligence at all bro, but did you check the plugs? I just had to clean mine because of fouling and mine was running like dookie with the same symptoms that you listed.
If you have points and condensor make sure that you have gapped it correctly with a feeler gauge. try tossing a timing light on it if you have one. If you don't just try turning the distributor back and forth.
Trial and error works every time.
