Your lucky your wife is OK with it. Mine calls my car the 'thing in the garage that eats money'.

My car is in the paint shop right now (been there for 2 months). I had them take it down to bare metal then make all the panels straight. I'm painting it the same color, so I didn't do the trunk, door sils, etc. It still costs about $3,500.

A thought on the engine, if you haven't already made up your mind to rebuild. Ford Racing has a 5.0 aluminum head crate motor (M-6007-XE3) that is rated at 345 HP for around $3,000. The motor has all the goodies (e.g. 9:0:1 compression, roller cam and rockers, etc,). It is a straight bolt in that only needs induction and 50 oz external balancing.

I'm really concidering this route because rebuilding my 289 to get 345 HP will cost about the same. Also, you never know what will happen at the machine shop.

Just a thought.
