What i found works in those situations is ask them really techincal questiosn about the car that they should know.....

whats the 60' time?
what mph?
what rpm do u shift at?
what did it dyno?
why didn;t he buy a v-8 to begin with
what size pulley for the blower,,etc,,,,
say it in a way where u make him think u really knwo what ur talking about.
