I had a friend with a 327 Chevy back in the '60's that red lined at 8000. It was built to the hilt for a street car with 2 AFB's and all the right street racing stuff. 8000 doesn't seem impossible to me.

If you came close before and are faster now, then who knows? Race his a$$ and find out who is quicker. My $.02.
