it can be done with spark plugs, but you need to run a carb and no cats. Bascially you put spark plugs in your tailpipes and hook them up to an ignition coil, each pipe gets a coil with a switch to switch them on. In order to ignite these bad boys you need to run the car, then shut the car off, pump the hell out of gas pedal and start the car up, as you start the car you flip the switch and now you have a nice flame. What happens when you shut the car off and pump the pedal, it basically floods the engine and when you go to start it, all the unburned fuel gets pushed out and is able to be lit up by the spark plugs, I hope this helps.
