i did the summer job thing at a ford dealer.
i changed oil, tires (lots of firestones, yay) tranny fluid and filters, all basic stuff really because they couldnt trust me on large jobs because i have no work experience, but i still started at $9.00/hr

the guys that did more involved mechanical work made quite a bit more than that, but they work on a flat rate system (kinda like commission) and each job they do is assigned a certain amount of hours that they get paid for no matter how long it takes to do it
example: oil change= 0.4 hours
