kalodie:
Let me concur with the previous posts and also attempt to clear up any possible misconceptions you may have regarding the use of the forums on Mustang Works.
First, Mustang Works Online has a long record of service to it's members over the years (beginning in 1995) and we need apologize to no one, but I think you may misunderstand the purpose of our various forums. let me help you.
The Blue Oval Lounge - this forum - is a 'catch-all', general forum for whatever folks want to discuss, including politics, music, motorcycles and so on.
Some posts involve cars, some do not, as you can see. It's not a tech forum and when the occasional tech question is asked, I moved it to the Windsor Power (tech) forum, where it belongs. When a general-interest question is posted on the Windsor Power forum (i.e. "Why Chevys Suck!" would be a good example), I move that post to the Blue Oval Lounge, where it belongs.
Obviously, it's easier to get replies to simple 'opinion' questions because, well, everybody has an opinion. We've had 20 or 30 replies to questions about what colors look best on such-and-such a body style Mustang or what's a good brand of gas.
Our political discussions have gone to near 100 posts when it got intense.
Tech questions are harder, of course.
It's difficult to answer questions that start with 'Why is my car slow' or 'Why won't my car start after I changed the heads and intake and it sat for three weeks'?
We're not familiar with every single engine combination and of course, diagnosing from afar - over the internet - is very tricky.
How many customers do you have that want a 'phone diagnosis' and you tell them that 'They have to bring it in' for you to diagnose the problem? Most, I would bet.
I know that Mustang Works does very well in helping Mustangers diagnosing various problems, advising them on the best parts combinations, sources and brands as well as simply offering general advice on planning performance upgrades and modifications.
We have a five-year track record to prove it.
Our members are professional mechanics, shade-tree mechanics, engineers and engineering students as well as a bunch of just plain knowledgable folks that are willing to help other Mustang owners, for free.
Yes, we complain a lot. That's human nature and it's easy on the internet, where everyone can be anonymous. I spend time on other (political) websites and see 80% negative posts, no matter the subject. Everybody is angry or at least annoyed with something.
Your post; 'Grumpier Old Men' is a complaining post, too, isn't it? Hmmmm.
I think we have some irony here.
I suggest, as others have, that you visit the Windsor Power forum more often and start contributing whatever information you can. With your 20 years of experience, that should be ample. We'll appreciate the input, I can assure you.
Thanks for your comments; hope this clears up some possible misconceptions you may have had.
