Talking

Snakedriver:

Dishonesty is a poison that infects all of the internet, no matter the forum.

You're 'talking' to total strangers, often thousands of miles away and with virtually no means of verfification of anything that person states about their car or it's performance. The temptation to lie is strong, especially among performance car people. I've also noticed that the faster the et or number of mods listed, too often, the more arrogant the person seems to be. This is human nature I suppose, and I don't see a solution in sight.
Some members post their timeslips, and others post photos, but if you wanted to, you could post some friends car and say it's yours, so nothing is foolproof, but I have to assume that we are mostly adults here and don't engage in these schoolboy games.

There certainly is a lot of misunderstanding about the et/mods equivalence and those who post BS posts about performance are usually caught pretty quickly and called on it by the more knowledgable folks that use the boards.
Dan and I attempt to monitor the boards and weed out junk posts as quickly as possible, but of course we can't do everything all the time, so you'll just have to use discernment and expect some BS some of the time, but compared to what I've seen on other boards on other sites, Mustang Works is almost junk free and very informative in most cases.
We're proud of our boards and our members and we'll do everything to ensure that we stay as BS free as possible, but when you see it, call it. That has a chilling effect on little boys who like to pretend they have fast cars and clog up boards with junk posts.

BTW: How do we know you really have a '97 Cobra? Gotcha!
See how crazy this can get if you dwell on it? Be vigilant but be cool.
