Hey bud, Greg from Pensacola. I put the Pro 5.0 in my '96 Cobra....took about 30 minutes...really easy. After you remove the four bolts holding the "boot plate" on, there are four more holding the shifter mechanism on. If you take those off and it still won't come off, just wiggle it back and forth to loosen the gasket material. Don't be afraid to apply some pressure to it. It should lift off without much trouble. Like you said, there isn't much to it. Good luck.
