well you can believe this or not, but my MPG went UP. This was because most of my daily travel is on roads w/ 35mph speed limit. So cruising at 40mph would be 4th gear. When I got the 3:73's, i could cruise in 5th gear, thus lowering my rpm's and using less fuel. If you do highway driving, most likely you are going to see a loss of about 3mpg. But any mustang owner will tell you, the absolute best "bang for the buck" is a set of gears. You should plan on about $150-200 if you are going to need someone else install them. I found a place that sold 3:73's installed for $300, but by the time I stepped up to synthetic gear oil, then shim kit and all w/ tax it was about $400. But it was the best $400 I spent on that car.
I'll tell ya, save you money and do these few mods, and your car will feel great and be a blast to drive: gears, H-pipe, shifter, pulleys.
