Actually the fix consists of mufflers, a new lower intake manifold(the "hat" isn't replaced), and a re-flashed computer (ie, better fuel and spark tables). The fix is free. Its actually a "performance re-call". Any Ford dealer should be able to perform it.
If you are not sure rather or not the car has had the fix, look at the driver's side of the intake manifold, there should be a green or blue dot. Also there should be a sticker somewhere around the top of the radiator indicated the reflashed chip.
