I don't know about welding the mounts, if your talking about welding the torque boxes, thats a good thing to do, but a whole different area and a lot more work (I think, article in latest MM&FF). On the bushings, you don't
have to, but people say it makes the car a lot more responsive, accenting the improvement of the control arms. Just from removing the uppers I can totally believe that, cause that thing flexed like a mofo.
