Post Fiberglass bumpers from a newer car.

The other day I was sitting in class and thinking to myself "how can I make my car lighter?" I was wondering if anyone has tried fitting 87 up bumpers to replace the super heavy Iron bumpers on the older cars? I'm talking about the bumpers inside of the outer bumper covers. This should drop about 50 lbs or more from the car and is safer than pulling the bumpers alltogether. Not to mention I could probably get a set for about $20. Any thoughts?
