that is a pretty old trick and it does work if you do exactly as you said and you have a very strong battery.

I tried it when I was running 13's and I actually slowed down 2 tenths and 2 mph, but my friends car picked up 2 mph. It all depends on your battery strength.


Also carry the belt in the car with you and put it back on the return road. Your car will be heating up fast if you try to drive back through the pits.
