Default How do you bracket race??

I bracket race quite often now here lately. I've raced about 7 times and got 2nd place in 2 of the past 3 Fridays. Although we are able to buy back in, since I am a broke @$$, I can't afford to and never have. What I was wondering is, what is your strategy, I'm doing alot better now then when I had first started and have a total of $80.00's in winning which I don't think is too bad considering how many times I've actually raced. This past Friday, I won 3 of my races cutting the following lights .500, .501 and .502. I thought that was pretty impressive although I lost in the final cutting a .462 red eye, but the whole idea is that I'm learning and getting better. I knew I had to cut a good light because the guy I was racing was the 2001 points champ in case you were wondering.
Anyway, like I said, I was wondering your strategy. Mine is to put slight pressure on the brake and when the 2nd light from the bottom goes out. I stomp in it. I've been running very consistently doing this. I have tried launching with the stall converter and all but that does not seem to work in bracket racing. Thanks for your comments.
