Here is what I know about flywheels. If you have a light car, than you can get away with a lighter flywheel. Here's the logic. The flywheel stores energy from the engine. and then transfers it right down the line to the tranny. Now, a heavy flywheel has the ability to get the heavier car moving. If you have a heavy car, and a light flywheel, you will have to rev the piss out of it to get it moving, even during normal driving. So think long and hard about it. The gains from a light flywheel will not be worth it in a heavy car.
